On September 10, Lehman College hosted the inaugural session of "Music Has Power® for Aphasia" in Music Building, a weekly initiative offering accessible music speech therapy to local Bronx citizens struggling with language disorders.

On September 16, professor and cultural anthropologist Dr. Hanna Garth spoke about her book Food Justice Undone: Lessons for Building a Better Movement in the East Dining Hall. This event, organized by Latin American and Latino Studies professor and cultural anthropologist Dr. Alyshia Gálvez, was a continuation of the Bronx Food Humanities Program, an internship program that empowers students from Lehman College, Bronx Community College, and Hostos Community College to combine lived experience, theory, and hands-on work to fight food apartheid in the Bronx.

Cannabis in the Bronx doesn’t look the way it used to, and that change didn’t happen overnight. Since New York passed the Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act in 2021, legal dispensaries have slowly started to take shape across the borough. But even now, the shift from illegal to legal isn’t as simple as it sounds.

Students at Lehman College in the Bronx say accessing affordable, healthy food remains a major challenge, as rising costs and limited options push many toward cheaper, less nutritious meals. This issue affects students both on campus and in surrounding neighborhoods, where fast food is often more accessible than fresh, healthy alternatives.
